We get asked which colors are needed to start out with all the time…with so many colors to choose from, it can be hard to figure out!
At the VERY least you need Black, White, Red, Blue and Yellow because with those colors you can mix colors together to get every color under the rainbow. BUT when you’re painting at festivals or birthday parties you won’t have time to mix colors so…
The essential colors that I tell beginner face painters to get are: White, Black, Pink, Red, Light blue, Dark blue, Light Green, Dark Green, Yellow, Violet/Purple, Orange and Brown. Check out our full range of palettes today!
White is the color you’ll probably run out of the most, (because you’ll use it for details, outlines, highlights and blend it with other colors)… so always have plenty in stock, because face painters definitely can not live without it!!
Black is also super popular because of all the outlining, details and shadow you’ll use it for.
The colors will depend on what kind of gigs you’ll be painting at — sometimes there are themed parties like for example a ‘princess’ party in which case you’ll need more pinks, purples and of course white.
We have palettes available here with all the essential colors listed above which is a great way to start off your kit.
