Sent in by Harmony Roth Shabtai

Step 1. Paint with white over the eyelid, living the center empty.

Step 2. Make a blue circle in the middle, and fill it with a lighter shade of blue.

Step 3. Draw a black dot in the middle of the circle, and outline in black the white and the blue.

Step 4. For a more realistic eye add 2 white dots on the black in the middle.

Step 5. Even more realism is achieved by adding dark red to the Sides and some thin lines across the white.

What is a Stipple Sponge?

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Stipple Sponge from Ben NyeA stipple sponge can be very useful to you in face painting!

It’s a textured sponge with lots of holes that when applied can give you a great stubble effect.

It works great on pirate face painting designs when trying to create a 5 o’clock shadow and makes it easy to paint clouds on a design with a blue sky. You can use it to create leaves/bush on trees and it can help you create some pretty impressive sea foam effects on an ocean themed design.

Get yourself a stipple sponge now and start practicing so you can have this great face painting technique under your belt!

If you already use stipple sponges, tell us which designs you use them on…

Tribal Face Painting Designs Techniques Video

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Ever wondered how to paint those amazing looking tribal face painting designs you’ve seen around? They can look complicated, but it’s really quite easy once you’ve watched this video (by Heather from www.sillyfarm.com).

She explains the face painting techniques behind creating tribal face painting designs. It’s all about using small brush strokes, curls and lines to build a design stroke by stroke.

Tribal face painting designs are popular amongst boys, but girls love them too.

TIP: Use the same tribal face painting designs and face painting techniques on girls but adapt it by using glitter and different colors. I find pinks and purples are quite popular and glitter looks pretty aswell as giving it the ‘wow’ effect.

And leave a comment to share your thoughts about the video or tribal face painting designs!
