Hi Rose Marie:

Sillyfarm.com has shimmer powders and lots of other types of paints that can help with that runny paint situation. I had a problem like that when I did a party outside in 90 degree weather. The kids were going in and out of a bouncy thingy and getting paint all over the plastic! I was horrified! Some of the kids wanted touch ups, but most of them didn't care. I was certainly glad of that!

I have just started into face painting! I have bought tubes of face paint. but I also a pack of snazzarro paint. Where can I find the powder base paint? I was at a reunion last week and everyone was sweating and the makeup looked all smeared after a hour. I need a place to order from . any suggestions?

I'm really enjoying your blog, thanks!

I keep a bucket under my table and once I have finished painting a child, I put the dirty sponge straight into the bucket and it's out of sight. I also put my dirty water in the same bucket as I've found that keeping the sponges wet helps prevent staining. At the end of the day, I just put the lid on the bucket and take it home with me.

Parents are always happy that I use a clean sponge for their child, and it also helps keep my hands, and my work area clean too!

Lolita:
I've noticed sometimes a few of the Snazaroo colors leaves behind a light stain (meaning it doesn't all come off the first washing, but does come off the next day). I've found putting a thin layer of white down before applying the color prevents it.

I give myself full marks for cleansiness and general hygiene.
I start a face with a baby wipe and brushes are wiped on this for each child, then rinsed in water, wiped in kitchen towel and start again in the colours required. Having done four face painting sessions I feel confident having studied all your tips on videos. An excellent way to learn. Thank you for your care and guidance.

Great video, I think that using baby shampoo is an excellent idea. It's a good way to clean brushes and sponges, and will likely not irritate anyone's eyes or cause skin irritation. I never thought of that!! To add, I think that it would be wise to notice any eye inflammation, or redness within the eyes on children before painting. Pink eye is extremely contagious, so it would be good advise to check for red eyes, and any mucous coming from a child's eye before painting as well as open skin lesions, cuts, and scrapes. Thanks.

To Lolita: I'm with Bunny the Clown... I think its probably the paints you're using. You should makesure that you're using paints made especially for application onto the skin. What brand are you using?

I've always kept my paints, brushes and area clean. I love Snazaroo paints. I use cleansing clothes before and after I paint, along with my hand sanitizer. I carry a small pop-up laundy bag with a disposible bag inside for trash. Keep everything looking neat. I'm going to try the suggestions on the fresh water and using different brushes for different colors. That's some good info!

To Lolita:

Are you using paints made for face painting specifically? A good face paint is not an acrylic paint. Face paints are water-based and come off quickly with warm water & mild soap. Do you put the color on heavy? If it's dabbed on with a sponge it's easier to clean off. This is just a few suggestions that may help. Happy painting!
