The following is an entry sent in for our monthly Silly Farm Supplies Competition!
“Costumes and Face Painting”
Sent in by Darlene Cookson
My son likes to play in old halloween costumes. He came to me one day and wanted his face painted like a motorcross driver since he did not have a helmet to wear. He had a small dirt bike with a rider on it.
This is what I used to get my inspiration. I like using pictures with the kids painted and in costume for my flyers and business cards it sure adds to the overall effect.
I have also attached a picture of him for picking your favorite character from a book that is not a super hero or cartoon character. He picked Sher-Khan from Jungle book.
I made the custome and the face. Again the effect with a costume adds to the painted face or vice versa. I only had a few minutes in the morning while getting us both ready for work and school to do the face. I hope you enjoy these photos.

Wow Darlene! Nice costume
I think it’s cool that you got your inspiration for the motocross from a toy…

Thanks Bonita,
He actually put me to the challenge. He, my son, was more sure of me being able to use the toy than I was. Thank you again.

So sorry this is late! Just saw your reply Darlene…
Well, now that you know you CAN do it, you can probably look at his other toys for ideas! Sketch out some simplified versions on paper and see where that takes you… Another place for ideas? Children’s coloring books
