great video- I love your new video series. I have the practive pad- and found that I run out of painting room fairly quickly with my size (about 12″x15″??) before having to clean it- I find that I get more mileage out of my legs if not my kids! I also found there is a kind of friction “drag” that you don’t feel on real skin.

Like with the practice heads, if you spray the pad with a light coat of ultra (extra) hold hairspray it will form a barrier. This barrier helps prevent staining and makes for easier clean up.

I just started face painting and the paint I use is mehron, but it’s not as smooth as yours, and it flakes. The brushes i use are soft and bends when I try to do the out lines. I just wanted to know what type of paint and paint brushes you use?

I don’t have a practice pad so this is just a hunch but, looking the Mr Clean Erasers on the link, they look very similar to the Chuz Magic Erasers that you can get in the cleaning aisle of supermarkets here in Australia. Have you tried them? They might be cheaper & easier to get than having to order from the US?

I don’t need a practice pad. Instead I use a mirror. very easy to clean and practice on and I’m really happy with the result.
It’s usefull for practicing teardrops, lines etc, and I’m happy with this improvised solution.

Very good promo. I recently bought the head and had the same problem with cleaning as I use Wolfe Brothers paint. It seems to stain even with the Mr. Clean Eraser. Since I’m new at painting I look at all your videos and Silly Farms (Heather)to learn how to do face painting. I have bought my share of videos to learn also. So I guess its just practice makes perfect. One of these days if there ever is a face painting event that I can go to and get instructions I’ll be there. Just none in my area or none for beginners. Thanks for your face painting tips, blogs and videos. I have found them very informative and helpful. I think the practice pad sounds nice, but I have another simple solution for practicing designs. I teach young kids how to face paint, and we use a face drawn on a plain piece of paper. The kids use pencils to draw the design, then they paint it with snazaroo paints before they paint the design on their partners face. This may work for some of you also.

I’ve started facepainting about a year ago and have a grand time also. To practice, I use a thin, pliable,plastic sheet that can be used as a cutting board in a pinch. It may stain a bit but with soapy water and scrubbing it comes clean. Purchased several from the Dollar Store because I don’t know where to find the Pad here in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Keep the blogs and lessons coming. They are great! Thanks so much.
