Okay, here it is, my 2nd installment of “How Much Should I Charge for Face Painting?”. If you haven’t read part one, I really suggest you read that first and here it is: How Much Should I Charge for Face Painting?: Part 1
After reading How Much Should I Charge for Face Painting?: Part 1 now ask yourself these questions:
How far do you have to drive?
Look at the area you work in on a map. I’d say if a gig is less than 25 minutes away, then give them your standard price. If it’s more than 25 minutes then charge more per hour for every additional 15 minutes of driving time. Or atleast charge extra on the first hour by maybe about $8-$12 for every additional 15 minutes of driving time.
What is your minimum time?
Set a minimum time to go paint, especially if you’re travelling a long time to get there. I’d suggest an hour minimum time, and maybe a two hour minimum on gigs that are more than 25 minutes away.
Do you have to wear special clothing?
If you’re a clown, factor the cost of your clothing into the mix. Clown costumes are not cheap, and you’ve got to spend more time preparing for each gig in terms of clothing, accessories, props and ofcourse…your own face paint! So you should charge more! Also clowns are expected to be more even more entertaining and lively with the kids, so if you are… you’re worth definately the extra mone
y!
What conditions are you going to be working under?
This especially applies if you’re working at outdoor events. If its going to be outside in the heat of an unbearable summer, or outside in the middle of a freezing winter…it’s reasonable to charge extra because we all now how incredibly uncomfortable it can be to try and work in extreme weather.
I’ll post Part 3 of ”How Much Should I Charge for Face Painting?” in the next week or two to come, so stay tuned to find out more. If you have any questions about what I’ve posted so far, or have something to add, leave a comment. And have a great day!
