I LOVE the lessons. The website offered i have not been able to open, thus no response from me, that is why I have replied to this website. Hope this goes thru OK. I clown at the hospital as well as other places and face painting is such fun. In my youth I was an Art Minor, plus 4 yrs of art in high school, so the drawing is fairly easy for me, but am learning new techiques and materials from you….for which i am very grateful.

October 18th, 2007 at 2:11 pm
This was a very nice technique — I do a lot of butterflies, having gotten a lot of tips from prior issues — I really love the simple, fast designs, because children often do not want to sit for very long!
October 18th, 2007 at 5:52 pm
Love the quick little cheek ideas. I do these for my grandkids and their friends. Maybe they’ll let me practice some of the Halloween ideas too. Thank you so much for these little e-mails…they keep me inspired!

I love your tips that you send me and this butterfly is one that I can practice on. I can only do 1/2 of a butterfly as I can’t seem to make both sides the same. So this way I have a new one to practice. Keep your e-mails coming. If you ever have face painting classes here in Ventura County let me know as I will definitely attend.
October 19th, 2007 at 12:44 pm

Hi Phil….thanks for all the tips you have patiently been sending…sincerely appreciate them. Your tips are great and have been really useful. I love the videos too. Great ideas to simplify face painting !!
Recently i saw a friend of mine using a simple method to draw multi tone flower petals…it was as first and so easy.
Just have to load the brush 1st with the colour that you want to be the core of the flower and than load with the next (not immersing entire brush) and third colour on the tip (if you desire). Than all you have to do is press the brush (tip facing out) and make equal 5 or 6 petals…and you get a great flower. I am sure you would already know this ..:)
Thanks again !!

I learnt to use this design for butterfly with you guys. It has been heaven on earth since then. I’ve painting half of a butterfly on half of the face and it has saved me a lot of time and also looks way better thaen the ones i used to make. This little one is also a life saver. Now i leave the parties with all the kids and the adults painted. Thanks to you.

October 22nd, 2007 at 2:13 pm
That’s a really great one. I’m more of a paper and painting on paper artist than a face painter, but I’ve been recruited on occasion and really like it. I’m doing an event next Saturday so we’ll see how it goes.
October 23rd, 2007 at 6:49 am
thank you . your butterfly is so beautiful
October 24th, 2007 at 12:20 am
I love the quick and easy way. Now if you can give us more for a boy that would be great. I know my grandsons would love to have something that I could do on them in a matter of minutes. Maybe something like a race car or a wolf or something a bit more on the boy side of things.
October 25th, 2007 at 7:45 am

It saves time too! ..have any tips for a small but great looking spider? some of mine came out looking more like a crab!…kids still liked them tho. Im trying my painting at the markets tomorrow.
October 26th, 2007 at 11:56 pm

April 7th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
it’s great for beginners. You make it very easy.
April 8th, 2008 at 10:15 am
Hi Philadelphia
This little butterfly is so pretty and quick to do - ideal for the wriggly child or the first-timer who isn’t too brave to have their whole face painted. Several of the same in varying sizes, like a flock of butterflies, would look good too as would a few embellishments in gold or silver or even maybe little stick-on jewels for an older child or teenager wanting to look glam!
Thank you

My question is will you or do you show how to paint characters or disney designs? I ask because i have seen clowns that have painted really nice disney and character designs for the cheeks.. Iam really interested to learn
April 10th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Wonderful to have easy instructions. Can’t wait for more designs. You make everything look so easy!!!!!!
April 11th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
nice and simple plus butterflies are my favorite
April 11th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Its easy and cute, I liked!! and I will like to see more designs like this one small and great!!
April 13th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Hello everbody, thanks for your comments, its awesome to hear from you all
To answer Laura’s question: I can’t show you Disney Characters because of copyright infringment. You’re not likely as a face painter to be sued by disney because you painted minnie mouse on a couple of kids, but as a web business that sells guides, I’d rather play it safe.
And to Linda, your silver and gold embellishments… thats a great idea!
Happy Face Painting,

I am brand new to face painting and this is the best thing I could have found online. Please keep up the simple and quick designs as I am needing all the info that is out there
p.s. If you have any tips on just starting out (the best brushes, paints, sponges, techniques, etc) It would be welcomed
Thank you, Lisa
April 17th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
I just think is awesome, I work with kids at church I a really want to learn how to do it
April 17th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
thank u very much
April 18th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Awesome butterfly….i added a trail of gold dots to make the butterflies look as though they are on the move….loop the loop…and the kids love it and so do I. Thanks.
April 23rd, 2008 at 4:38 pm
very cute, you could use this with little flowers, vines etc;
April 24th, 2008 at 8:24 am
great design, simple to do. thanks
April 24th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
I think the designs are nice but being a tattoo artist i think that the designs can have a little more detail.
April 24th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
What I like most is that these designs offer a nice foundation. There will always be room to add details according to the artist’s whim & creativity. Perhaps, one day, Philadelphia will offer a more advanced technique/design e-book or videos. I think there’s a lot of potential for growth here!
April 26th, 2008 at 12:45 am
