Buy Professional Face Paints at Cheap Prices

by Philadelphia from FacePaintingTips.com on September 12, 2007

I constantly get emailed by face painters asking about which professional face paints that we use, where’s the cheapest place to buy face paints online and where do we buy our face paints from. So I thought I’d write a blog post about it, to refer all future face painters who ask me these same questions.

I also wanted to tell let as many people as possible know where to buy our favorite professional face paints for the cheapest prices that we’ve found on the net! (And I spend a lot of time on the net so, I’d know!)

1. Which professional face paints do you use?
Pauline and I prefer to use Snazaroo face paints – It’s a high quality face paint that’s used by professionals all over the world, they last ever so long and the colors are amazing! They go on so smoothly making designs easy to paint, give a great even coverage and they feel very light on the skin. The way it feels on the skin is very important, if you get children who find the face paint thick and irritating they’re not going to have much fun at all! We also like Mehron but use Snazaroo face paints the majority of the time at the moment.

2. Where’s the cheapest place to buy face paints online?

Let me answer this question by showing you a comparison of prices between a few online snazaroo face paints stores – Party Domain, Silly Farm, and Snazaroo UK + US:

Snazaroo Standard Color 18ml:

Party Domain: GBP £2.60 BEST PRICEBuy Snazaroo Metallic and Glitter Face Paints
Snazaroo Uk: GBP £3.39
Silly Farm: US $ 7.50 (approx. GBP£3.69)
Snazaroo US: US $8.99 (approx. GBP£4.43)

Snazaroo Sparkle Color 18ml:

Party Domain: GBP £3.55 BEST PRICE

Snazaroo Uk: GBP£4.29
Silly Farm: US$ 8.50  (approx. GBP£4.18)
Snazaroo US: US $11.99 (approx. GBP£5.90)

3. Where do you buy your face paints from?
From the cheapest place we could find ofcourse. We buy Snazaroo face paints from an online store in the UK called Party Domain. Their service is very professional, secure and fast! What I like that you can check the status of your order online, so you always know what’s happening.

Hi guys
I have been using Grimas, Kryolan, Paradise for years and have just discovered the world’s most fantastic White and Black from Wolfe BRos -all available from Silly Farm. For the Girmas and Kryolan I buy them in Adelaide SA from the Theatre Costume Shop and the Wolfe and Paradise from Silly Farm. They are all great products and have a variety of uses. Try them all and see what suits your style

Thanks Toni Anne!

That’s some good advice, try a bit of everything then see what you like best!

Hi,
I buy my face paints(snazaroo) in Dublin. They vary so much in price from €7 to €8.50 depending were they are bought. I like these the best. I haven’t seen many different brands here. It is hard to get glitter and I usually have to but it from a very expensive make-up (beauty) shop.

I’ve tried Kryolan and like it a lot, but I find the white goes on a little sheer when applied with a sponge, giving me a streaky look I don’t like. Should I just be sponging on two coats, am I applying it too thinly with the sponge, is the sponge too dry..?

Is Snazaroo paint more pigment-dense?

Hi,

You may have mentioned this somewhere, however I have not seen it as of yet. What is starblend powder and on what designs do you feel these may be good for? I noticed it on the Spiderman design by Silly Farm and it looked so smooth and easy to blend…any thoughts? Thanks!!

Hi Alana,

When sponging you should be dabbing the paint on. If it’s streaking you’re probably dragging the sponge, instead of dabbing it.

Experiment with two coats, sometimes that works for me, but it’s not great when you’re trying to finish a design quickly.

Your sponge may be too watery, but I can’t say for sure…because I can’t see what you’re doing, so experiment with adding more water.

And remember, never wet your sponge, always wet the paint. If your sponge is too watery it will definately streak.

Hope that helps!

Hi Donna,

Starblend powder is a powder based make up that can be used for base colors in face painting.

It’s great to use on any design that has two ‘layers’, like what you saw with the spiderman/venom design. Use the starblend powders to put down the red and black base coat, then use face paint to paint in the web.

Powders are great for large areas, but when it comes to detail use face paint.

Hope that helps!
