Ever wondered how to paint those amazing looking tribal face painting designs you’ve seen around? They can look complicated, but it’s really quite easy once you’ve watched this video (by Heather from www.sillyfarm.com).
She explains the face painting techniques behind creating tribal face painting designs. It’s all about using small brush strokes, curls and lines to build a design stroke by stroke.
Tribal face painting designs are popular amongst boys, but girls love them too.
TIP: Use the same tribal face painting designs and face painting techniques on girls but adapt it by using glitter and different colors. I find pinks and purples are quite popular and glitter looks pretty aswell as giving it the ‘wow’ effect.
And leave a comment to share your thoughts about the video or tribal face painting designs!

Are you painting on Paper that has been laninated? I was watching a video on tiger mark making, was that painted on the same material as the pro faces?
Enjoy all the video’s I must admit I find tribal designs need a bit of practise.
Where do you get the style sticks from? never heard of them before.

Can you recommend a starter kit with a case that I can use to break into facepainting for a group of 20 10year old girl scouts that volunteer at our local park 2 times per year? I have done a lot of painting but not on faces…..I would like to use a company that has refillable tray options?
unless you recommend working directly from container?

Very helpful instruction. How do you load so much paint into your brush? I have Snazaroo paints, some pots are quite dry and others are quite creamy.

Hi Faye,
Maybe you need to use a little more water with your paint?
I find that’s usually the problem.

Hey Philadelphia!
I may be in a minority too, I’m only 14! But I LOVE using the Comprehensive Guide and all your tutorials. Thanks so much for making such an instructional website! I’ve just recently purchased my first set of real Snazaroo paints, and I can’t wait to get started in time for the Halloween rush!
Thanks a heap!

Hi Paul,
My good friend Heather from Silly Farm is painting in that tutorial. I emailed her to ask what she was practicising on and this was her reply:
“Hi Phili
I use this piece of rubber latex fake flesh called a practice pad.
It is the best practice tool ever because it feels like real skin and it cleans great too. I like to practice my designs on it and you can bring it anywhere.
I sell it on my site. Just in case you were wondering
Thanks for your love and support
Heather”
